C.R. Edinburgh and Glasgow Coach Kits

In 1905 the CR introduced three car sets comprised of a D102 First sandwiched between two D101 Brake Thirds for use on the Glasgow to Edinburgh service. The 68' thirds built to D105 were also regularly used on this service especially at peak times. These were the longest carriages ever built by the Caley.

Caledonian Railway Coat of Arms

"Wha dare meddle wi' me" - a loose translation of the Scottish motto (nemo me impune lacessit, litterly meaning "no-one provokes me with impunity") which was appropriated along with the Scottish coat of arms (without any sanction from the Lord Lyon, King of Arms) by the Caledonian Railway Co.
