CL06 Class 1 4-4-0T locomotive

C.R. numbers 1-12; L.M.S. numbers 15020-15031

Built at St. Rollox in 1893, these distinctive locos were originally fitted with condensing apparatus for working the low-level sections in Glasgow. Many of the class spent much of their later lives serving as station pilots. The last of the class was withdrawn from Polmadie in 1938.

"Wha dare meddle wi' me" - a loose translation of the Scottish motto (nemo me impune lacessit, litterly meaning "no-one provokes me with impunity") which was appropriated along with the Scottish coat of arms (without any sanction from the Lord Lyon, King of Arms) by the Caledonian Railway Co.
