Rake of newly built 'Balerno' coaches posed at R.Y. Pickering, Wishaw
These lovely little coaches are just right for "minimum-space" modelling
being so short but otherwise to the full standard of the Caley's contemporary
57' coaches such as CC4-CC6. The prototypes were built in 1921 for the Balerno
and other Edinburgh branches. Sets were formed 2F + 4T + 2BT, strengthened
at peak times by 3T + 1BT. Most survived to B.R. days if only just.
Note that only the Brake 3rds had dynamos and battery boxes for powering the electric light of the sets.
